Just a day before their highly anticipated comeback after 5 years, Girls’ Generation’s iconic and influential debut song, “Into The New World” trends on social media after the release of their teaser for “FOREVER 1”.

While the song itself can just go viral at any day, any time, “ITNW” trending a day before SNSD’s comeback is mainly because the popular song’s intro was sampled into their newest one, driving SONEs wild as we speak.

SONEs also trended “Kenzie” on social media, referring to SM Entertainment’s hitmaker and genius producer who is the mind behind some of BoA, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, SHINEe, f(x), EXO, Red Velvet, SuperM, and NCT’s hit songs.

“Into The New World” is the debut single of Girls’ Generation which was released on August 3, 2007. Aside from it reaching the top of music charts in South Korea, the song had also become influential after it had been used in protests in the country.

The first instance of it being used in political protests was in 2016 when students of Ewha Women’s University sang the song while facing police officers.

This event caught the attention of SNSD members Tiffany and Yuri, where the former said that “it was a proud moment,” and that we are all living “in an era where messages of women empowering other women are important.” The latter also commented that she saw the video a lot of times and “cried because her heart was overcome with emotion.”

The song was also used along with Big Bang’s “Bang Bang Bang” and Twice’s “Cheer Up” during the 2016-2017 South Korean protests, with “Into The New World” reaching the number one spot in Melon’s real-time charts 10 years after the song’s release.

This song never fails to remain iconic, even when so much time has passed. Are you excited for Girls’ Generation’s comeback? I know I am.
