Ash Ketchum is making an appearance in another Pokémon game

Ash Ketchum, well-known for being the protagonist of the Pokémon anime series, is set to make an appearance in a Pokémon game once more.

Ash is set to appear in the free-to-play mobile game Pokémon Masters EX. According to Gamerant, this will be Ash’s first appearance in a Pokémon game since the N64’s Pokémon Puzzle League in 2000.

While Ash did make an appearance in Pokémon Puzzle League, the game only used illustrations from the anime for him. Now, it looks like Pokémon Masters EX will be the first game to release an official 3D model for Ash.

The information was first leaked in a tweet by @absolutelypm, showing an image of what might be a sample of what Ash’s in-game model will look like in the mobile game.

Fans of Pokémon know that Ash doesn’t really make an appearance in the games  — the games and the anime series are usually considered two separate universes for Pokémon, so while Ash is the protagonist for the anime series, the protagonists differ from game to game.

While Ash may be making an appearance in the mobile game, some mention that the events in Pokémon games are considered irrelevant to the events that happen in the anime, so Ash’s role in-game will most likely be non-canon in the anime’s universe.

Still, fans are excited to finally be able to see and interact with Ash in a Pokémon game, and not just as the mascot of the company for promoting Pokémon-related projects and content.

The mobile game Pokemon Masters EX is available for both iOS and Android.
