‘Ansaya ni Anya’: DOTr announces extension of MRT-3’s ‘Libreng Sakay’ program with an Anya Forger meme

Good news, Metro Manila commuters: MRT-3’s Libreng Sakay Program has been extended till June 30, 2022! Even Anya is “happy” with the news.

The Department of Transportation Philippines announced on their Facebook page on May 26, 2022, that the program has been extended until the current administration’s last day in service. They posted the great news alongside the edited animated art of Spy x Family’s  Anya Forger.

This amazing news delighted many commuters, who also showed their appreciation for DOTr’s marketing approach that referenced Anya Forger’s character.

The DOTr brand on social media is one of the government organizations in the Philippines that actively uses memes in its content marketing, as shown in the following:

The MRT-3 Libreng Sakay program began on March 28, 2022, to commemorate the successful rehabilitation of the said transit line (because MRT-3 was a little, well, “problematic” back in the days). The program aims to lessen the financial burden on Filipino commuters, especially during the pandemic, and to make them feel comfortable and safe when riding the MRT trains. /VT
