Pixar reveals concept art and release date for ‘Elemental’

Pixar has dropped a teaser concept art for their upcoming animation film, Elemental.

From the creators of The Good Dinosaur, Partly Cloudy short, and Cars 2, comes a new and exciting adventure with Elemental. Directed by Peter Sohn and produced by Denise Ream, the feature film will tell the story of an unlikely pair, Ember, a fiery young woman, and Wade, a go-with-the-flow guy, as they are bound to discover something elemental, how much they actually have in common in a city where fire, water, land, and air residents live together.

Director Peter Sohn also revealed that the film was heavily inspired by his childhood when his family emigrated from Korea to New York in the early 1970s where his family built a bustling grocery store in the Bronx. He drew upon his experience of venturing into a new land filled with various cultures and languages, which led him to the creation of Elemental, “We were among many families who ventured to a new land with hopes and dreams—all of us mixing into one big salad bowl of cultures, languages, and beautiful little neighborhoods.” the director shared.

Director Sohn further explained how the story is mainly based on the classic elements of fire, water, land, and air, but with a uniquely added twist of making these elements alive, “Some elements mix with each other, and some don’t. What if these elements were alive?” the director added.

With the recent success of the Disney-Pixar coming of age film, Turning Red, and family film, Encanto, one can only hope that the upcoming animated film, Elemental will also make or break the emotions inside our hearts! Which Pixar is best known for when it comes to their animation films.

Pixar’s Elemental will hit the theaters on June 16, 2023.
