Did Kingdom Hearts music really make it into Coachella? You read that right; we have Kingdom Hearts representation at one of the biggest music festivals in the world. Japanese-American artist and J-pop legend Utada Hikaru took the stage at Coachella to perform classic Kingdom Hearts theme songs “Simple and Clean” and “Face My Fears.”

Coachella is one of the most famous arts and music festivals and always has the most popular performers in its lineup, including Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Joji, and many more. So the fact that Utada Hikaru was able to perform some fan-favorite Kingdom Hearts songs on a huge stage like Coachella is quite surreal.
Utada was a guest of the “Head in the Clouds Forever” showcase, which is a performance slot that the 88rising label was able to land for its artists.
Fans took to Twitter to express their elation over Utada’s performance.

Utada was way popular back in the 2000s, especially since their (the singer-songwriter uses both she/her and they/them pronouns) music was already a big part of the Kingdom Hearts series. So for many Utada and Kingdom Hearts fans, this performance triggered some nostalgic memories.
Kingdom Hearts is finally on the map again in recent years, with news like Sora joining Super Smash Bros, the game’s rerelease on the Switch console, and the huge announcement of the next game in the franchise, Kingdom Hearts 4.
