In need of a new playlist for studying or relaxing? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Introducing Minnie Mouse’s Lofi Minnie: Focus, an album playlist composed of Disney classics turned into lo-fi instrumental covers.
Minnie Mouse recently shared her playlist with some of her favorite classic Disney songs remixed as lo-fi music perfect for your relaxing nostalgic nights or when you want to be accompanied by calming beats on your productive days. Lofi Minnie: Focus has a collection of 10 songs, and each version was worked on and produced by different lo-fi artists, with contributors including Purrple Cat, Philanthrope, and Krynoze. The playlist includes some of Disney’s greatest hits such as “How Far I’ll Go” (Moana, 2016), “A Whole New World” (Aladdin, 1992), “Go the Distance” (Hercules, 1997), and more. Lofi Minnie: Focus is also accompanied by a looped animation of Minnie Mouse sitting in her room studying, just like the iconic Study Girl from the lofi hip hop radio – beats to relax/study to video.
As Minnie Mouse embraces her newfound place in the lo-fi music scene, Lofi Minnie: Focus aims to promote a space that offers concentration and relaxation to its listeners. According to Disney, what attracted them to collaborate with lo-fi artists is their ability to reimagine songs in a completely new way that combines the soothing benefits of wonder and nostalgia. In this way, Lofi Minnie: Focus can become a great source of comfort just like what both Lo-fi music and Disney offer to their audience.
The genre of lo-fi music (shortened term for low fidelity), is a combination of melodies from calming jazz and hip hop beats. Lo-fi music allows listeners to immerse themselves into their instrumental music without distraction – in this way the audience can relax, do their tasks, and even study while they hit play on their curated lo-fi playlists. Even though a lot of YouTube channels are now producing their own lo-fi music, with visuals and images inspired by other cartoon and anime characters, it seems that Minnie Mouse will be a natural fit in the scene as it reflects Minnie’s interest in creativity, music, and wellness, which embodies the calming and meditative properties of lo-fi music.
While the Lo-fi Minnie playlist is still only at 10 songs, lasting for about 24 minutes, there’s still a high chance that your favorite Disney songs will be added! What Disney song do you think should be a track in Minnie Mouse’s playlist? Personally, we think that the whole track of Encanto (2021), should be there! I mean, who wouldn’t want to listen to the lo-fi rendition of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” or “Dos Oruguitas” while relaxing, right?
If you still haven’t listened to Lofi Minnie: Focus, you can give it a listen on your favorite streaming platform, as the album playlist is available on YouTube, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music.
