It is no coincidence that Selena’s birthday falls the day before the international release date.The 21 year old multi-platinum selling artist is seen partying with her friends and crew on a video posted on her YouTubeaccount — https://goo.gl/vU69f; backed up by the song “Birthday”, an EDM-inspired track included in her new album.
Aside from album release, the sultry and vampy music video to her second single “Slow Down” was also revealed just a few days before the album debut. The video generated more than three million views since its premiere on Vevo.
“Stars Dance” is Selena’s fourth album overall as she had previously released three albums with her band Selena Gomez & the Scene, which began a hiatus in 2012. The new album counts Britney Spears, Shakira and Skrillex as major musical influences. The album is rooted stylistically in garage house, EDM, and dub step, while also containing strong elements of techno, disco and teen pop genres. The lead single “Come & Get It”, released April 2013, peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Selena’s first top ten hit on the chart.
Come July 27 (Saturday, 10:00 am onwards), Filipino fan clubs of Selena Gomez (Selena Gomez Philippines and Selenators Philippines) will be hosting fan parties at Astrovision, TriNoma and Odyssey, SM Megamallto celebrate the release of “Stars Dance”.
