CANNES, France – The 62nd International Festival of Creativity concluded with the announcement of awards for categories Film, Film Craft, Branded Content & Entertainment, Titanium and Integrated. Winners of special awards like the coveted Palme d’Or were also revealed.
Geico’s Unskippable: Family Long Form 01, entered by The Martin Agency, won one of the 2 Grands Prix awarded for film. Jury President Tor Myhren said it “broke every rule that we know in filmmaking” and “made content so good they challenge you not to watch.” The other winner of the accolade was 100, a Leica Instituional ad by F/NAZCA Saatchi & Saatchi that reimagined 35 classic photographs using live actors.
66 Lions were given for the Film Craft category, with the Grand Prix going home with adam&eveDDB for John Lewis Partnership’s heartfelt Monty’s Christmas.
For Branded Content & Entertainment, Jury President and CCO of BBDO Worldwide David Lubars said that they weren’t able to find “a unique element that we will still be talking about in 10 years’ time.” Hence, no Grand Prix was given out for the category.
Domino’s Emoji Ordering, entered by CP+B Boulder, went home with the Grand Prix for Titanium while Wieden+Kennedy New York’s entry RE2PECT claimed the Grand Prix for Integrated. The same jury also picked the ALS Association’s Ice Bucket Challenge as the winner of the Grand Prix for Good, given to the best charitable, public service or not-for-profit campaign.
The Lion of St. Mark, “a special award presented to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to creativity in advertising and communications”, was presented to Bob Greenberg, founder, chairman and CEO of R/GA. On the other hand, the LionHeart Award was presented to Al Gore for voicing out his concern over environmental issues. Creative Marketer of the Year went to Heineken, with chief commercial officerJan Derck van Karnebeek as the recipient of the award. R/GA New York claimed the spot for Agency of the Year while Droga5, New York won Independent Agency of the Year. Smuggler USA won the prized Palme d’Or, given to the most awarded production company. Lastly, Ogilvy & Mather was proclaimed Network of the Year and WPP as Holding Company of the Year.
