All the way from Manila to New York, another Filipino artist has made waves in the international scene!
Filipino indie artist Clare Benin left her international footprints as she landed on a giant digital billboard at Times Square in New York.
Benin has made her appearance on the digital billboard through a music streaming platform’s initiative to highlight women’s works around the world. The indie singer’s name went up in light after her two songs, ‘blink’ and ‘Araw’t Gabi’, held the first two spots in Spotify’s EQUAL Philippines playlist last February 2.
Benin took to Instagram to share the good news. She wrote: “Look, I’m in Times Square!! What an honor.”
Benin first broke through in 2015 after she launched her debut album ‘Human Eyes’, which she self-produced with her father, Joey Benin, a former member of the Filipino band Side A. She has also performed in numerous music festivals, namely Music Matters in Singapore, Wanderland Arts and Music Festival in the Philippines, and South Korea’s biggest music festival, Zandari Festa.
Benin recently released her new track ‘blink’, the first single under the Southeast Asian record label, OFFMUTE.
Benin is the latest Filipino artist to grace the streaming brand’s digital billboard in Times Square. Apart from her, Nadine Lustre, Ylona Garcia, Belle Mariano, Angela Ken, Reese Lansangan, and KZ Tandingan were previously featured under the same campaign.
