Nef Medina releases his acoustic cover of ‘Empty Space’

They say the mother of all great inventions is re-invention, and it takes more than just sheer talent and skill to be able to pull-off a move that isn’t in one’s comfort zone: it takes nerves of steel and a fine understanding of the craft that is good music… because whatever sonic style or approach, a great song will always break-through no matter what.

And that’s what songwriter/performer Nef Medina is proving with his latest single “moviestar,” which – understandably – might be quite the surprise for longtime fans and casual listeners who identify him with his previous acoustic-tinged and stripped-down releases.

And now he surprised us and his fans with another release this month, an acoustic cover of “Empty Space” under a worldwide label, evosound.

Having been exposed to music early on, and refining his talents through both the Church ministry group AND by taking-up a music production course, Medina first made waves by being a finalist on world-renowned music competition The Clash, and most recently, released a debut EP called All Acoustic, which – albeit being stripped-down in nature – found him celebrating many musical genres that have shaped his artistry – from pop, to alternative rock, ballads and ultimately, electronic music. And though his releases and performances have always seemed to be well-calculated and refined, he claims it’s really all about going with his sound.

“Empty Space’ is out now on all digital streaming platforms.
