‘Lightyear’ official trailer released, film set to ‘take off’ this June

Buzz Lightyear is now ready for take-off – to infinity and beyond!

On February 8, the official trailer for the upcoming sci-fi action film Lightyear was released.

While the story of Buzz concluded in Toy Story 4 in 2019, Pixar is yet to offer people the story of the “real” Buzz Lightyear. The film follows the origin story of Buzz, a space ranger on an intergalactic adventure – the hero who inspired the toy whom we loved in the Toy Story films.

The director of the film, Angus MacLane, stated that he’s always been interested in Buzz’s world.

“In ‘Toy Story,’ there seemed to be this incredible backstory to him being a space ranger that’s only touched upon, and I always wanted to explore that world further. So, my Lightyear pitch was, ‘What was the movie that Andy saw that made him want a Buzz Lightyear toy?’ I wanted to see that movie. And now I’m lucky enough to get to make it.”

The trailer has also revealed the interesting characters and the star-studded voice cast. Aside from Chris Evans, who gives life to Buzz Lightyear for the film, the line-up was also joined by Keke Palmer, Dale Soules, and Taika Waititi, who are all part of his crew, and Peter Sohn, who stars as his personal robot companion named Sox.

Director MacLane described the cast as a “dream team” and said, “Each of the performers immediately inhabited their character, which gave us the opportunity to play a bit during recording sessions.”

Since its release, the trailer has been eliciting positive reactions. Some Toy Story fans also expressed their excitement abouot Pixar’s new take on Buzz’s character.
