SHINee’s Taemin to finish his Military Service as a Public Service Worker

7 months after his military enlistment into the Republic of Korea Army Band, SHINee’s main dancer Lee Taemin will be completing his military service under Supplementary Service. This news comes after SM Entertainment updated fans of the artist about his current situation in the morning of January 14, 2022.

Reasons for Taemin’s transfer from the Military Band to the Supplementary Service were detailed in SM Entertainment’s announcement:

“Due to the symptoms of depression and anxiety that Taemin has been suffering from before [his enlistment], he continued to receive treatment and therapy even while carrying out his service. However, because his symptoms recently worsened, the military determined that it had become impossible for him to continue his military life and treatment at the same time, and he was accordingly transferred to supplementary service.

Therefore, Taemin plans to fulfill his military duty as a public service worker.”

Shawols showered all of their concerns towards Taemin with comments on social media, hoping that his treatment will go well and that he’ll receive support from everyone around him. Taemin’s name has been trending on Twitter for hours on end due to this news. Fans also asked others to be considerate when talking about Taemin’s condition.

Another one said that he [Taemin] “still kept smiling…and was a good brother who took care of others and cheered on everyone to be strong.”
