BTS has finally dropped their much-awaited remix of their summer banger “Butter”, in collaboration with American rapper Megan Thee Stallion on August 27, 2021, 1 P.M. KST. The song was released on various music streaming platforms, along with an official visualizer video on HYBE Labels’ channel.

This release came after a Texan judge ruling in favor of Megan Thee Stallion against her record label 1501 Certified Entertainment, in which the former had filed a petition against the latter on the grounds of “preventing the release of a remix of BTS’ ‘Butter’.”

In her petition, Megan Pete (her birth name) argued that this “blocking” of the release will cause “irreparable damage” to her career, “including a devastating impact to her relationships with her fans and with other recording artists in the music industry.” Megan Thee Stallion’s dispute with her label started back in March 2020, when the latter barred Stallion from releasing music when she was trying to renegotiate the conditions of her contract.

ARMYs everywhere were ecstatic over BTS’ sudden collaboration with the “Savage” singer, leading to the topics and hashtags “BTSxMeganTheeStallion”, “BTSxMeganToday”, “BTS_Butter”, and “BUTTERTHEEREMIX” immediately trending all over social media. The song even reached the top list of a lot of music platforms.
