Fan-made Pokémon games are leveling up with Xenoverse: Per Aspera Ad Astra

Getting impatient and need your dose of Pokémon now? Why not try a new fan-made game called Xenoverse: Per Aspera Ad Astra.

Released in English back in February 10, Xenoverse: Per Aspera Ad Astra is the latest in a long line of Pokemon fan games. It’s available on PC, but it can be played on Mac or Android using emulators (although those methods aren’t supported by the team).

Check out their animated trailer here:

Not to be outshined by older fan games such as Pokemon Uranium, Sage or Dark Rising, Xenoverse features its own new region, main story, and 389 Pokémon both from previous games and its own original creations.

The main highlight of the game is the mysterious ‘X type’ Pokémon. Unlike the usual Pokemon we’re familiar with, these ones come from a different universe and have different elements. For example, a Pikachu X would be a ‘Sound Type’ rather than the iconic ‘Electric Type’ we’re used to.

The best part about it is, the game is absolutely free with no strings attached. You can download the game on the developer’s official site.

Pokémon just celebrated its Silver Anniversary last February 27. There they announced the upcoming Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The enhanced remake of their game from 2006 is set to release later this year for the Nintendo Switch. They’re also releasing Legends Arceus, the first open world action RPG in the series set to release early next year.

While you wait for the next official releases by Nintendo, you may spend your time playing Xenoverse and other fan games like it exploring regions made by fans such as yourself. They offer a neat look into how fans can expand beyond the series they love so much.
