Marvel Studios is excited to present their newest six episode TV series spin-off, titled “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” The show revolves around what happened to Sam and Bucky now that Steve Rogers has retired.
Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will be reprising their roles as Falcon and the Winter Soldier respectively. The two were last seen in a battle with Thanos in ‘Avengers Endgame’. Which brings us to the big question: “What happens after the blip? Will everything go back to normal?”
Anthony Mackie was interviewed by Reuters and had this to say: “Everyone is trying to figure out how all of them will be able to fit in society once again. That’s the big question that needs to be answered.”
Both Mackie and Stan have developed their own characters’ backstory. The lead writer of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” Malcolm Spellman said that he aimed to create the same cop buddy films, just like “48 hours,” “Bad Boys,” and “Lethal Weapon.” Spellman also said, “those movies are fun and muscular but it’s very, very grounded and deals with very, very serious issues in a way that doesn’t alienate other people.”
The series also deals with racial discrimination. In the first episode, Sam tries to apply for a loan from a bank but fails. Throughout the series Mackie’s character is trying his best to represent his country that doesn’t even show him respect.
“I was beyond grateful to have the chance to be part of creating and making sure that Mackie’s character wasn’t muted, because of his blackness,” Spellman said.
