Summer Noise 2019 moves to Greenfield District

Summer Noise 2019 is moving to Greenfield District (United corner Mayflower Street), Mandaluyong City! Previously purchased tickets will still be honored at the festival venue.

Strategically located within the integrated commercial and business beltway that is EDSA, the new outdoor venue is more accessible through routes and roadways connected to major urban hubs in Metro Manila.

What to expect at this year’s Summer Noise

Now on its second edition, Summer Noise will bring out the dun and music outdoors with an exciting festival lineup featuring the finest music acts from North America, Europe, Australia and Asia.

The one-day music festival will take place on May 18, 2019 at Greenfield District (United corner Mayflower Street), Mandaluyong City, Philippines.
As announced a few months ago, American dream-pop artist Japanese Breakfast, American indie rock outfit Turnover, Australian psych-pop trio Last Dinosaurs, Thai singer-songwriter Phum Viphurit and Norwegian sensation Jakob Ogawa are set to headline an eclectic and diverse array of performers.

This year’s sophomore outing aims to put the country at the forefront of the Southeast and East Asian festival map, welcoming celebrated musicians from the region in the star-studded roster: Sobs and Subsonic Eye from Singapore; Manic Sheep and SEN from Taiwan; Up Dharma Down (UDD), Cynthia Alexander, Sheila and the Insects, tide/edit, The Ringmaster, She’s Only Sixteen, and UPRISING from the Philippines.

Keeping the Spirit of Grassroots Community

“Our goal with Summer Noise is to showcase established and independent musicians from various countries, particularly within the region and beyond, and foster talents that are rarely given the platform to share their music at large-scale events,” Festival co-founder Mary Christine Galang shares. “We believe this to be an incredible opportunity to not only produce a high-quality music festival but keep the spirit of grassroots community that we’ve built throughout almost four years in the industry, which we believe to be what sets us apart from other music events in the country, and hopefully expand that ethos throughout the Asian region and beyond. In the long run, we want to nurture a community that celebrates diversity, representation and cultural pride.”

The highly anticipated music event has already made it to Bandwagon Asia’s “A guide to festivals in Asia,” ranking alongside some of the top-tier urban music fests in the world like Hong Kong’s Clockenflap, Tokyo’s Summer Sonic, and Manila’s very own Wanderland.

Other Non-Music Programs and Highlights

Summer Noise has always been an advocate of representation and diversity; hence, promoting the accessibility of concert-going experience to the deaf community. “We will have Filipino Sign Language (FSL) interpretation as part of our program. We strive to ensure that our shows are inclusive and provide a safe space literally and also figuratively, to express our individuality without compromising our values,” Galang points out.

On top of the non-conventional programming, expect a burst of culture and color as Summer Noise offers a curated alley supporting local brands, products, food concessionaires, and startups.
