4-year-old girl goes viral for not moving during a dance recital

A TikTok clip of a 4-year-old girl refusing to dance at a recital is going viral.

Charlie Cosby, who was performing in an outdoor recital, decided to stand perfectly still for the majority of the performance while the rest of the girls danced to upbeat children songs like “Baby Shark” and the “PAW Patrol” theme.

TikTok user Caleb Collier posted the clip with the caption “Went to my niece’s outdoor recital and witnessed this legend.” The clip earned more than 4.6 million views and 1.3 million likes in just a few days.

When interviewed, Charlie’s mom, Tiffany Cosby, said that she hadn’t even realized Charlie was already TikTok famous until a coworker told her.

When asked by her mom why she didn’t dance, she said because “there were a lot of people.”

However, according to her mother, Charlie did end up dancing in the finale of the recital when she was no longer positioned at the front of the stage.

After finding out that Charlie had gone viral, Tiffany reached out to Collier and sent him another video she took of Charlie in the recital, which he then shared on TikTok with her permission.

Tiffany was pleased with the outpour of uplifting comments on Charlie’s performance from strangers online.

“When she grows up and she can read, it will be a good experience for her and not a bad one,” said Tiffany.

With the way things have been going for 2020, we can’t help but feel the same way you do, Charlie.
