Alyssa Milano reminds you to ‘wear a damn mask’

“Wear a damn mask.”

This is what Hollywood celebrity Alyssa Milano said when she shared a video of herself showing hair loss as a result of suffering from the coronavirus.

The actress tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies earlier this month and did not shy away from sharing her experiences and raising awareness about her battle with the virus.

On August 6, Milano shared “After living the last 4 months with lingering symptoms like, vertigo, stomach abnormalities, irregular periods, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, zero short term memory, and general malaise, i went and got an antibody test from a blood draw (not the finger prick) from a lab. I am positive for COVID antibodies. I had COVID-19.”

After testing positive, she checks in a hospital a few days later writing “ This virus sucks. Please take it seriously.”

The actress then proceeded to share a video about hair loss being one of the many effects she encountered with the virus.

She wrote, “Thought I’d show you what COVID-19 does to your hair. Please take this seriously,”. The video shows her continuous hair fall after using a brush over her head. “One brushing, this is my hair loss,” she said.

Alyssa also shared data that supports her claims of hair loss being a long-term effect of the virus. The survey was conducted by a research group for coronavirus survivors called “Survivor Corps” who asked what symptoms they had which were not mentioned in the CDC list including hair loss.

As the number of COVID cases increase, the victims that battled the virus continue to spread awareness of its seriousness and inform those who undermine its effects. Milano continues to be an advocate for better testing systems after taking a total of three tests and the first two getting inefficient results due to her recurring symptoms.
