Korean girl group Blackpink just broke the current record for having the most number of viewers in a music video premiere on YouTube.
The group unveiled their new song “How You Like That” on the video platform and it brought together 1.65 million fans—smashing the record of the also widely famous k-pop group BTS last February.
The track is considered a ‘pre-single’ to the group’s first full-length studio album, which is set to be released in September. It’s the comeback everyone’s been waiting for, after Blackpink went on a year-long hiatus to work on their debut album.
“We sang to give the message of not being daunted by dark situations and to not lose the confidence and strength to stand up again,” said Blackpink member Jisoo in a pre-release press conference.
Blackpink is said to be the most subscribed music group on YouTube, with 39.2 million subscribers to date.
