UP-CIFAL Philippines to host webinar on physical distancing to fight COVID-19

The University of the Philippines (UP)-CIFAL Philippines, in partnership with iACADEMY and Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., will host the webinar, “No Crowding, Please: COVID-19 and Physical Distancing” on 3 July 2020, 3:00 PM (Manila time). 

Resource persons from the local government, nongovernment organization, and academe will talk about the local governance, human rights, and technological aspects of physical distancing to help combat the pandemic. 

This webinar aims to emphasize the roles and contributions of various sectors such as the government, academe, and private groups as well as provide recommendations for the effective implementation of physical distancing. 

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte will share the challenges and recommendations in implementing physical distancing in the largest and most populous city in Metro Manila. 

Carlos Conde, researcher at Human Rights Watch, will tackle the human rights issues related to physical distancing. 

Vanessa Tanco, president and CEO of iACADEMY, will discuss leveraging technology in the pandemic response, particularly Maze, the country’s first application on physical distancing. 

UP-CIFAL Philippines Director Dr. Edna Co will serve as the moderator of this online discussion.
