The Youth Initiative 2020 launches its third donation drive to provide supplies and PPEs for hospitals in Luzon

As more and more healthcare workers test positive for COVID-19, it is important to ensure that hospitals have enough personal protective equipment (PPE) and supplies for their frontliners. The members of The Youth Initiative (TYI) 2020 call on the public to support their third donation drive which was officially launched last May 20, 2020. The monetary donations collected will be used to procure PPEs and supplies for St. Clare Hospital, Hospital of Infant Jesus, Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital, and other hospitals.

The Youth Initiative (TYI) 2020 is a nonprofit organization composed of students from different universities. United by their desire to help during this pandemic, they started this initiative with the aim of raising funds to provide PPEs and supplies for frontliners. The team makes use of social media platforms to inform the public of their donation drives and to practice full transparency with the funds collected. They also post informative and uplifting content such as weekly news reports, COVID-19 guides, and mental health breaks.

TYI 2020 has already spearheaded two waves of donations in the last few weeks, raising a total of Php 189,135. These funds were used to purchase facemasks, scrub suits, hazmat suits, alcohol, and other PPEs for the Philippine General Hospital (first wave) and the National Children’s Hospital (second wave). With the number of infected healthcare workers rising, the team felt compelled to continue supporting frontliners by launching a third donation drive, which will run from May 20 to 31. To strengthen their call for help, the organization also partnered with 32 youth and school organizations. Now more than ever, TYI 2020 is calling on the compassion and generosity of everyone to help support frontliners from more hospitals in Luzon.

The Youth Initiative 2020 is a testament that even students and other young members of society can contribute positively to the fight against COVID-19. To find out more about The Youth Initiative 2020 and its donation drive, visit the official Facebook page at fb.com/TheYouthInitiative2020.
