As we face a global health crisis, mental wellness becomes increasingly important now more than ever. As part of the Ahon: Mental Health Awareness + Action Week (MHAW) 2020, the Ateneo de Manila University’s Loyola Schools Mental Health Coalition consisting of the Sanggunian: Commission on Mental Health, Ateneo Psyche, and Ateneo Peers invites everyone to become a companion for mental health through its culminating concert entitled “Kahulayaw” to be held on May 23, 2020 on the Ahon: MHAW 2020 Facebook page.
Mental Health Awareness + Action Week (MHAW) is an online project that is initiated by the Ateneo de Manila University’s Loyola Schools Mental Health Coalition—currently taking place from May 4 to 23, 2020 through its Facebook and Twitter pages—that aims to cultivate a mental health-conducive community through an informative and action-oriented approach.
Through its projects revolving around this year’s theme “Ahon,” MHAW aims to be a platform where people can ascend from mental health concerns and the stigma surrounding them by actively reaching out to the community—both within and outside the Ateneo de Manila University campus. This has been seen through its initiatives such as the Self-Expression Project, Mental Health Information Campaign, and Humans of MHAW.
Serving as a culmination of this year’s MHAW, Kahulayaw aims to become a companion for audiences through diverse performances from students, organizations, and renowned bands. Through music, the concert will hopefully bring together audiences to rise as one to fight against the stigma on mental health.
