As several establishments reopen following the loosening of COVID-19 restrictions, some restaurants have gained the world’s attention for their wacky and creative take on dining amid the pandemic.
One such restaurant is the Fish Tales Bar & Grill, which enforces social distancing among its patrons by having them wear tables that resemble bumper cars, as pointed out by netizens.
The restaurant, which is based in Maryland, United States, unveiled its new strategy via Facebook Live on last Saturday, May 17.
“New way to socialize safely! Only at Fish Tales!! No alcoholic beverages were consumed while filming this live feed,” the restaurant stated.
It also extended its gratitude to Revolution Event Design and Production, which designed and created the social distancing tables.
The tables, which are equipped with wheels, physically limit people from getting too close to each other and just have them bump tables, as seen in the video.
Other restaurants meanwhile have their own creative takes on social distancing enforcement. The Inn at Little Washington in Virginia, U.S. plans to seat mannequins at empty tables while the Cafe & Konditorei (pastry shop) Rothe in Germany is making customers wear pool-noodle hats. JB
