LOOK: German cafe asks customers to wear pool noodles for social distancing

After Germany loosened its lockdown restrictions amid the pandemic, a cafe came up with a creative and wacky way of enforcing social-distancing measures as it reopens.

Cafe & Konditorei (pastry shop) Rothe marked its reopening by handing out pool-noodle hats to ensure social distancing between its patrons.

The gig seemed to have piqued the internet’s interest as the cafe’s photo of its pool-noodle-wearing customers has garnered over 1,400 reactions and more than 2,200 shares on Facebook since May 10.

The cafe, however, is not the only food place with antics like this. For one, a three-star Michelin restaurant in Virginia in the United States is planning to use mannequins also in observance of social distancing.

Half of the seats at the Inn at Little Washington will be occupied by these lifeless companions, who would be dressed in midcentury fashion.

As the COVID-19 pandemic drives the whole world into quarantine, forcing schools, businesses and other establishments to shut down, it is somehow refreshing to see that the goofiness of humans still prevails.  /ra
