Get ready to ‘treat ‘yo self’ as we’re all getting a new ‘Parks and Recreation’ special episode

Four months into 2020 and a lot of things have already happened that are beyond our wildest imagination. As we all learn how to adjust to our new reality, we find different ways of coping and entertaining ourselves while staying at home. Some people are using their extra time to enhance their productivity, while others try to destress or ease their anxiety by catching up on their favorite movies or TV series.

Right now, we’re living off some of the relatable moments from popular TV series — like this episode from Parks and Recreation where several characters were affected by a flu outbreak.

To treat fans of the hit series who might be feeling down while under quarantine and raise money for charity, NBC announced that the series will return for “A Parks and Recreation Special” on April 30. In a video, Amy Poehler invites people to “a very special Parks and Rec, all shot from our homes”.

“The story comes from the events of the day, Pawnee’s most dedicated civil servant, Leslie Knope is determined to stay connected to her friends in a time of social distancing,” the network shared in a statement.

The all-new episode, in collaboration with State Farm, aims to raise money for Feeding America, a nonprofit network of food banks. “Like a lot of other people, we were looking for ways to help and felt that bringing these characters back for a night could raise some money,” said executive producer, Michael Schur.

After the announcement fans couldn’t help but express their excitement online.
