An Ode To My Only Beloved

Sweet were your lullabies as you cradled me in your arms,
Gentle were your smiles as I gazed your eyes full of light and charms,
Your songs were melodies so comforting and enchanting,
Oh, let me fall asleep again enwrapped with your arms so warm and endearing.

Your kiss was as sweet as a morning dew,
Your embrace filled my world with not just one hue,
To my ear your voice seemed like a satisfying heavenly symphony,
Your laughter, seldom I heard, was a blend of rhythm and perfect harmony.

Your caress wiped away the pain,
Sorrows, madness, grief, of which my heart could not contain,
Your touch was an assurance that you are always there to guide,
And that you are always there holding my hands by my side.

You were the first one who taught me how to read and write,
And that I should not shoo myself away from following the light,
You introduced me to the profound beauty of the immense sky at night,
That I should just close my eyes and silently utter a wish upon a star so bright.

I grew up following the beatings of my heart,
Hesitant to follow the road you ushered me into at start,
But your word was like a beacon of light that illuminated my way,
Go! Follow your dreams, as you would just say.

There were battles I’ve never won, dreams shattered and wasted,
Mountains were too high for me to climb but I never regretted,
The fly was somewhat too high, wind too strong and my wings were crumpled,
But you swooped right down to catch me from fall and carried me into the nest where you first laid me and nestled.

You were always at my side whenever I woke up from a nightmare,
Assuring me that yours is an unconditional and unending care,
You embosomed me with the warmth of your love,
Like a warm wind beneath the wings of a flying dove.

Now that I see the light at last,
After you lifted my soul from a gloomy past,
May the love inside my heart cast a glimmering light like a moonlight,
When your heart seems like a melancholic night.

Your voice is the only song that plays and resonates inside my heart,
Whenever its tune echoes in the innermost chamber of my heart to sing I will start,
I cannot live a moment and surely vanish into the night without a glimpse of your eyes,
Oh, the brightness of light those eyes cast, to me dazzles like a majestic sunrise.

Your presence always lifts and lightens up my lonely-broken soul
Your heart holds a love that is pure and divine and the greatest of all
Evident in your eyes that spring a light of endless glow,
There in a home where love reigns supreme with you I will go.

There in your eyes I see a halo of gold, truly a vision to behold,
Like starlights beckoning in an indigo sky before my eyes unfold,
To my ear your sigh is an angel’s breath like a sweet refrain,
As if my heart is enchanted to a rhythm of the dancing rain.

I want to see the sunrise with you by my side,
I want to walk with you barefoot along shores until the sun begins to hide,
I will carry you the way you cradled me long ago,
Oh, my dear, I love you so.

Let me take you out under a blanket sky at night,
Where stars in their multitude collide casting a light too magnificent for a sight,
Tales of how I wanted our world would be like to you I will tell
Until the moon subdues its glow, the dawn breeze softly whispers low and your imagination begins to sail.

My song may not be as sweet as your lullabies the way I heard when I was a child,
My melodies may not be as comforting and enchanting the way I heard as you enwrapped me by your side,
But my hugs and kisses will always be as sweet as a morning dew,
Because, my dear Mother, you are my hue, and God knows how much I love you so.
