The COVID-19 pandemic has almost everyone from all over the world feeling like they’re trapped in their homes — as self-quarantine and social distancing is advised to reduce the risk of getting infected and passing it on to other people. People online suddenly find comfort in the idea that one of our favorite Disney princesses has gone through the same thing and survived.
When boredom suddenly hit you while walking around or “checking out” new spots inside your home as you wait for the lockdown and quarantine to be over, you might find yourself singing along to this iconic song from the movie Tangled, wondering when will your life begin (again) and realizing that we could all learn a thing or two from Rapunzel, the Queen of Self-quarantine!
THINGS YOU CAN DO IN QUARANTINE:
-chores
-sweep till the floor's all clean
-polish
-wax
-do laundry
-mop & shine up
-sweep again and by then it's like 7:15
-read a book or maybe 2 or 3
-add a few new paintings to my gallery
-play guitar
-knit
-cook
-wonder when will my life begin— Cassandra by Taylor Swift (@CassK9) March 15, 2020

People are now comparing Rapunzel’s isolation for 18 years to the current situation of those who are in self-quarantine for a few days—noting that Rapunzel was truly ahead of us when she practiced social distancing and have managed to survive on her own without hoarding supplies.
if Rapunzel can be isolated for 18 years without hoards of toilet paper, so can we 😤

Coincidentally, many pointed out that in the 2010 animated feature film, Rapunzel’s birthplace is an island kingdom called “Corona.”

Rapunzel was locked in her tower for 17 years. Her kingdom's name is Corona. pic.twitter.com/ZHZyD87ghU

And like our moms who are not allowing us to go outside right now, Mother Gothel had Rapunzel in quarantine all her life because she was hiding her from Corona (but for an entirely different reason, of course!).

Just a reminder that when Rapunzel was quarantined by Mother Gothel she read a book (or maybe two or three), added a few new paintings to her gallery, played guitar, knitted, cooked, and basically wondered when her life will begin. Wyd?

It might be silly to think about how some people are calling Rapunzel the icon or queen of self-quarantine now, but in these trying times where our anxiety levels are at peak and everyone is in distress, we could all use some humor to lift up our spirits…
let’s not forget that rapunzel was quarantined and met her future husband so let’s think positively here

We’re still lucky that we have the luxury to stay at home to avoid the threats of the deadly virus spreading all over the country. And while we may feel like we’re trapped in a tower like Rapunzel, we also need to check our privilege and realize that some people have to risk their lives going outside to make a living. The true villain in our story right now isn’t just putting us in isolation. We’re all in this tangled mess, making some of us question whether our lives will ever begin if we can’t find a way to go out there to put food on the table.
We’re all hoping that things will soon get back to normal and find a cure to end this pandemic. But until then, if you have no business going outside, stay at home and wash your hands, princess!
