Woman who went viral for owning–and caring for–a fake succulent is now a ‘plant instagrammer’

March 12th, 2020

You’ve probably heard the viral story of the woman who took care of her succulent for two years, then realizing it was FAKE. Because of the story’s virality, it gained not just the attention of media outlets but also those of plant shops and garden centers. Since then, she has been getting a lot of real and alive indoor plants as replacements for her faux plant.

According to Wilkes, she created an Instagram page for her “green babies” so people can follow the journey of these beautiful plants. As of this writing, the Instagram page has 169 followers and 17 posts.

Here are some of the plants she received:

Having a garden in our place helps brighten up our homes. That is why Wilkes is making sure that every plant will receive the same amount of care and attention they need. Even though her first succulent is made of plastic, she still adores her first “plant baby.”
