As part of its mission to support and elevate the Filipino music and arts scene, Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival 2020 is bringing in music business executives, professionals, and artists from the music industry to lead its first-ever music business conference on Saturday, 29 February 2020 to Sunday, 1 March 2020 at the Drilon Orchidarium, La Mesa Eco Park in Quezon City.
Evolving technology has led the music business landscape in constant change over the years. Artist management, music touring, record labels, and other careers in the music industry have developed in ways artists and music professionals must look forward to learning and adapting in order to sustain themselves in the industry.
From discussing critical topics about the knowledge of how the music industry works to initiating conversations and building networks, Malasimbo is connecting music artists and professionals to international music business executives to lead the local music scene in a higher platform in the music industry.
Perspectives From Music Professionals
An array of different interesting topics will be discussed. The Rolling Stones’ Sam Cutler will discuss How the 60’s Fun Turned Into a Business. Greg Lim of Heineken and Genaro Castro of Panasonic will talk about Event Marketing in the Experiential Storytelling Era.
Kate Cudberston, manager of FKJ will speak about Monetizing Music. She will also be joining Michael Peha, manager of Quincy Jones and Allan Silonga, manager & Booking Agent, IV of Spades, as they discuss Artists Managers vs. Booking Agents. On the other hand, Clem Castro (Dragonfly Collector, Orange & Lemons), Karel Honasan (Yosha), Niki Cabardo will lead discussions on Gigging and Touring in the Philippines.
Pat Sarabia (A&R, Offshore Records), Roslyn Pineda (General Manager, Sony Music Philippines), Ian Monsod (Managing Director, Warner Music Philippines), Mony Romana (Marketing Program Head, MINT College) will talk about The Role of Record Labels Today: Indie vs Major. Mony Romana will also be speaking about Marketing and Distribution together with Bianca Orensiana (Label Manager, Believe Digital).
Brian Perley (International IP Lawyer) and Mony Romana (Marketing Program Head, MINT College) on Royalties, Publishers and Collection Societies. Singer-songwriter Reese Lansangan will discuss Creating an original sound and a brand.
Nicolas Dupuis (Anomalie), Mike Love, Lachlan Mitchell (Laneous) will lead discussions on Songwriting vs Performance vs Music Production, while The Reflex will talk about The Art of the Remix & DJ culture.
A Plethora of Activities at Malasimbo
Aside from the music business conference, #Malasimbo2020 will also host health and wellness activities in the morning of both event days. Experience Tai chi, yin yoga, hatha, nature bathing, partner dance, and therapeutic sound journey and more from as early as 11:00 AM up until 5:00 PM.
Kids, teens and young adults can also enjoy the swimming pool parties where they can both cool down in the water while listening to good music. Rainforest activities are also available for everyone to enjoy.
Tickets for Malasimbo 2020 are still available. Full-day pass is at P4,500, two-day passes are at P8,000, a one-day pass is at P2,000, and a one-night pass is at P2,500.
