Known for their captivating vocal harmony, excellent beatboxing skills, and impressive cover songs, Pentatonix (PTX) returned to Manila for their “The World Tour” last February 8 at the Araneta Coliseum. The American a capella group, which is consists of Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, Scott Hoying, and newest member Matt Sallee, performed breathtaking song numbers.
The quintet serenaded their Filipino fans with their original hits such as “Sing”, “Happy Now”, “Come Along”, “Imagine”, and “Natural Disaster”. Olusola (the talented cellist) showed off his multi-tasking skills by beatboxing while playing the cello.
While Hoying greeted everyone “Magandang Gabi (Good evening)”, the other members expressed their gratitude and appreciation for their fans’ unfaltering love and support—mentioning that their Manila show is their favorite stop in their world tour.
“[The] Philippines makes us feel more welcome than anywhere in the world, we feel right at home here.”, the group said before dedicating the song “On My Way Home” to their PH fans.
Moreover, the Grammy Award-winning group continued to amaze the audience with their own renditions of the songs: “High Hopes”, “Havana”, “Señorita”, “Telephone”, “Symphony”, “Don’t Start Now”, and “Shallow”.
PTX ended the night with their encore performances of the following songs, “I Want It That Way”, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” mix of Ariana Grande songs, and Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”.
