In its unending pursuit of bringing Philippine coffee back to the global market, Cavite State University (CvSU) through the National Coffee, Research, Development and Extension Center (NCRDEC), proudly presents the 2nd National Coffee Education Congress (NCEC).
The 2nd National Coffee Education Congress will be held on December 3-5, 2019 at the CvSU International Convention Center, Cavite State University – Indang, Cavite.
With its theme “Unifying Industry Initiatives toward Sustainability of Philippine Coffee”, NCEC aims to converge research and extension initiatives of all the coffee stakeholders which are contributory to the development of the Philippine coffee industry.
Through a series of informative and entertaining activities, NCRDEC provides a podium for different persons, coffee enterprises and concerned organizations from all over the country to educate them regarding the current and future challenges in obtaining the sustainability of the coffee industry.
Relevant issues regarding the coffee sector will be addressed by top-class speakers in a set of plenary talks. Some topics to be discussed include The Good and Bad Sides of Drinking Coffee: A Medical Perspective, Status of Coffee Mechanization in the Philippines, Coffee Business and Marketing, Coffee, Faith and Beauty, and more that will certainly inform the participants about the serious matters concerning the coffee industry.
The event will also acknowledge the continuous quest for knowledge of different coffee researchers from public and private colleges and universities, and other government institutions on a Research and Extension Paper and Poster Presentations Competition.
Tertiary students from universities and colleges in the country will show off their barista and visual storytelling skills on the event’s Barista Competition and National DocuFest, respectively. Coffee processors and coffee shop owners will display their products on this year’s Coffee Product Exhibition, and will participate in a Coffee Cupping workshop to enhance their signature coffee blend.
Aside from the educational discussions and exciting contests, the 2nd National Coffee Congress will serve as a venue to recognize outstanding coffee cooperatives in the country that contributes to the promotion and development of our local coffee industry. Also, the event will unveil the Book Cover of Influential Coffee Personalities in the Philippines to recognize the notable contributions of different individuals uplifting the coffee industry. Lastly, to commemorate this event, 1 Million Cups to Success Project will be conducted which symbolizes the corporate social responsibility of NCRDEC to allot the proceeds of the event to the sons and daughters of coffee farmers as scholarship grants.
