What are the odds that a set of identical twin nurses would aid in the delivery of identical twin babies?
Twin sisters Tori Howard and Tara Drinkard, who are both nurses, helped in the delivery of twin girls at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center in Georgia, USA.
Howard is a neonatal intensive care unit nurse, while Drinkard is a nurse in labor and delivery, as per Good Morning America on Oct. 15. Howard said she and her sister discovered that they would be working in the same delivery room only just moments before the birth of the baby twins.
“For every c-section that labor and delivery does, we have one NICU nurse that goes because c-sections are higher risk,” Howard said in the report. “I was excited to go to a delivery with my sister but it didn’t really cross my mind—we’re twins and they’re twins.”
Parents Brannan and Rebecca Williams, on the other hand, were both excited when they found out that two of their nurses were also twins just like their newborns, who they named Addison and Emma. It was reported that Addison was born first, while Emma arrived three minutes after.
“It was pretty neat because Tara took care of Becca in the labor and delivery room and Tori was taking care of Emma in the NICU,” Brannan said in the report.
Addison and Emma are still in the NICU, as per the report, after being born early at 32 weeks. They were to come home on Thursday, Oct. 17. Cody Cepeda /ra
