The PUP Sentral na Konseho ng Mag-aaral will launch the second run of the “Ang Kwentong May Kwenta, A Writing Workshop” on the 26th to 28th at the Manila Room, Hasmin building, PUP Sta. Mesa, Manila with the main objective to promote responsible journalism, and to end disinformation and false articles perpetuated by unreliable sources and divisive opinions.
This year’s Ang Kwentong May Kwenta is filled with interactive talks that will cater the delegates’ desirable field of writing. Among the topics included in the three-day workshop are: News, Features, Editorial and Column, Literary, and Creative Writing, Photojournalism, Lay-outing and Graphics Workshop. It also embeds Data Gathering, Fact-Checking workshop, and Documentary and Film-making workshop which is in line with the goal of putting mass-centered journalism.
Renowned personalities, award-winning journalists and writers, and editors of national newspapers and organizations in the likes of Pepe Diokno, Tonyo Cruz, Ellen Tordesillas, Ryan Faura, Rod Marmol, Jacque Manabat, Estelle Gwee, Levy Balgos Dela Cruz, Leo Laparan, Robert Alfiler are anticipated to commence and conduct the workshop set for the activity.
The objectives of the workshop are: promote the relevance of social concern through the form of Journalism; provide an extensive avenue in search for writing as a form of freedom of expression, creative criticisms and fair public information delivery; provide writing for the mass public; inculcate the essence of writing as bastion of truth, wisdom, excellence and fairness; and to aim for writing as a machinery for goodwill and freedom of expression.
Ang Kwentong May Kwenta, A Writing Workshop is the biggest, system-wide writing workshop in Polytechnic University of the Philippines. It is an annual activity of the PUP Sentral na Konseho ng Mag-aaral in its continuous effort advocating for responsible journalism. This year, Ang Kwento May Kwenta is co-presented by: PUP College of Arts and Letters Student Council, PUP College of Computer and Information Sciences Student Council, PUP Students’ Party for Equality and Advancement of Knowledge, and PUP Artist Guild for Excellence, Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, and Vera Files with partnership to Rappler, Inquirer.net, Inquirer POP and WhenInManila.com.
