A mother treated her son to a photo shoot inspired by the 2009 Disney movie “Up” to celebrate his 5th birthday.
Elijah Perman and his great grandparents Richard and Caroline Bain, who are both 90 years old, dressed up as characters from the said film. Elijah posed as Russell, while his great grandparents wore clothes similar to the ones that the characters Carl Fredricksen and his wife Ellie donned.
Elijah’s mother Rachel, who is a photographer, then snapped pictures of them to commemorate the special occasion. Rachel later took to Facebook last Tuesday, Sept. 10, to share sweet moments from the pictorial.
She explained to INQUIRER.net today, Sept. 17, that she gave Elijah an “Up”-themed photo shoot because he is “borderline addicted” to the film.
“Its the only thing he draws and colors (the house with balloons) and the only books he wants to get at the library,” she added.
Rachel invited his great grandparents to join him in the shoot as a surprise.
“They were thrilled to participate and loved that I asked them,” she said. “Grandpa even went to the thrift store to get the jacket and hose. He said ‘I noticed in a photo Carl had a hose over his shoulder.’ They have never seen the movie!”
Rachel also mentioned that the decision to give her son a special photo shoot for his 5th birthday stemmed from the time she was diagnosed with cancer. She found out that she had the disease after giving birth to Elijah and his twin sister Emilee.
At the time, she feared she would not be able to see her twins reach the age of 5 years old.
Rachel gave Emilee a separate photo shoot to celebrate her turning 5 years old as well. She is currently free of cancer, and will also be treating her eldest child Mikayla to another special pictorial for her 10th birthday. JB
