One mom from Missouri, USA, is on a mission to feed the hungry kids in her neighborhood by preparing food bags for them every day.

Champale Anderson noticed that the kids in her St. Louis neighborhood were always hungry, as per FOX 2 on Sept. 8. So, Anderson decided to prepare bags of goodies that they can grab whenever they are on the way to school or home.

“I noticed the kids they are always hungry,” Anderson said in the report. “They get off the bus and they take off running and they never know what I will have in the bag. I switch up and have special treats for my special babies.”

Anderson apparently has an open-door policy on school days, as per the report. Children can knock on her door before and after school so Anderson can give them their bag. The bags include sandwiches, fruits, vegetables and juice, as well as other snacks like cookies. She prepares at least 100 bags a day hoping no kid in her neighborhood ever goes hungry.

“It makes me proud,” she said. “My goal is to go to different neighborhoods and give out bags.”

Anderson’s initiative has since developed into an online fundraising effort, as per Good Morning America on Sept. 12. She has raised nearly $25,000 (around P1.2 million) to help her buy food supplies for the kids.

“I didn’t have a great childhood; it was pretty rough,” Anderson told Good Morning America. “That made me not want any other kid to go through that. I know I can’t stop [hard times], but I know I can slow it down just a little bit.”  Cody Cepeda /ra
