A woman recently denied claims that photos of her motorcycle accident in Tennessee, USA, had been staged.
Tiffany Mitchell shared the incident on her Instagram page two weeks ago, as per BuzzFeed News yesterday, Aug. 19. The post has since been removed.
Mitchell recounted the events that led to the accident, as seen in her Instagram post. She has over 211,000 followers on the platform.
“I misjudged a curve, took it too fast and my bike went off the road,” she said. “It slid through the grass and I hit the pavement.”
She stated that despite sustaining minor scrapes to her left side, she was fine. “I was in absolute shock laying on the side of the road,” Mitchell added.
“My friends were at my side immediately, an ambulance arrived within 10 minutes (CRAZY fast), and sweet strangers loaded my bike onto their trailer to haul it back to my house for me,” Mitchell recounted.
She claimed that a friend named Lindsey was with her during the time of the accident. Lindsey, a photographer, then took photos of the tragic event.
Mitchell was lying on the side of a road while a man attended to her, as seen in the series of photos she posted. In one photo, a water bottle was “suspiciously” placed near Mitchell. This led netizens to claim the post was sponsored and staged.
Mitchell denied the accusations. “Nothing about this was staged. I’m sad that some people are taking it that way, but it’s just not the case,” she said in the report.
She also denied any partnership with Smartwater, the brand of the water bottle in her photos.
“I would never turn a very important personal story like this into a brand campaign,” she told the news outlet, adding “the water was given to me while I was resting.”
She claimed that she was unaware Lindsey had taken those photos. Regardless, she was grateful that her friend had “captured such an intense moment” for her.
“I’m really sad that raising this topic without all the context may inspire negativity and hatred,” Mitchell said. “But I did my best and hope whatever happens can add to people’s lives in some way.” Ryan Arcadio /ra
