Verafede Inc. empowers us to love all things beautiful through the ‘Self Love Club’

Love… a topic so widely used from rom-com movies to love songs, now even in a lot of memes and social media rants. It is a topic that is very relatable to literally anyone and is something that we all desire and long to have. People go through lengths just to find that special someone, to express all the love that he/ she has within. We humans, inherent to love, have so much love to give, so much love to express, but what we tend to forget is to first give some love to ourselves.

If love, in its very essence and definition, is wanting the good for others, then Self love is to want and to direct that good to oneself. Self-love means to ensure one’s own wellbeing and happiness holistically, in order to better love and foster a healthy relationship with other people. After all, we cannot give something that we, ourselves, do not have— in order to give love to others, we must first have the love to give within and for ourselves.

A common misconception is that self-love equals to vanity, when in fact, self-love is necessary for our sanity. In order to raise awareness about the importance of self-love and talk about the pressing issue of mental health in our society— even more to the youth— Verafede Inc. organized Self-Love Club Chapter 2: Self Expression. This follows the first chapter of Verafede Inc.’s Self Love Club Series which focused on body positivity.

With Self Expression as this year’s theme the event promises a night full of spoken word poetry, inspirational talks, and music performances. What better way to express ourselves than through art and music right? Artists such as Bea Lorenzo, Drei Raña, the GoodBoys, and Pinkmen are expected to showcase their feelings and emotions through their music, while Christnel Sawali through her spoken word performance. To cap it all off, reigning Miss Philippine Youth International Rikki Mae Dela Pena, and Youth for Mental Health Coalition representative Alyannah Lagasca are set to inspire the Filipino youth into being more self-aware and self-loving.

All proceeds from the event will go to Verafede Inc.’s partner beneficiary, the Youth for Mental Health Coalition, a group of youth advocates working towards raising awareness on mental health and ending the stigma on mental illnesses among the Filipino youth. This initiative is in partnership with INQUIRER.net and InqPOP! as its official media partners.
