UST Alfredo M. Velayo – College of Accountancy Graduates bid their farewell to the Catholic University

The University of Santo Tomas held its annual Baccalaureate Mass in honor of the Graduating batch of 2019.  The UST Alfredo M. Velayo – College of Accountancy produced 414 graduates of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and 291 graduates of Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting.

It is part of the University’s tradition to send off the graduates with a Eucharistic Celebration, and subsequently exit the Arch of the Centuries that they have once entered during their Freshmen year.

Before the actual Mass started in the afternoon, the Local Student Council of each Colleges had their chance to organize activities to bid their parting wishes to their seniors.

Each college may choose their own theme for the pre-baccalaureate mass celebration. For the Accountancy Student Council, they decided to have a jungle-inspired theme called “ConqueROARS.” The council believed that the greatness of being hailed as the queens and kings of the jungle may be the testament of how hard work, commitment, and dedication to oneself may help a student to overcome any adversities and hardships.

During the Baccalaureate Mass, the graduates imposed the Thomasian Mission Cross to one another, affirm the Thomasian Pledge, lit up their candles, and sang the UST Hymn.

The most anticipated part of every Baccalaureate Mass in the University is when the night sky was illuminated by the Fireworks prepared by the UST Pyromusicals.  This year’s theme revolves around the Avengers: End Game and Queen.

After the fireworks, it is now time for the graduates to exit the historic Arch of the Centuries, signifying the end of the students’ college life.
