The Bloomfields to release ‘A Drop Into the Blue’ Album Launch on June 15 at Historia Bar

The boys of The Bloomfields are ready to delight audiences once again with a new 10-track album, which they claim is to be their best one yet.

“A Drop Into The Blue” is our forthcoming album. It has 10 original tracks and is a culmination of years of composing and self-doubt and reassessing and trying again and finally just saying “Yes, I think we got it this time.” It was difficult for us to find the sound that we wanted to express ourselves with, but now we’re ready to join the larger world of music that we’ve isolated ourselves from for too long.

Our most notable influences for the album are the genres of 50s surf rock, the 60s british invasion, 70s psychedelia and funk, 80s new wave and 90s britpop. That sounds like a lot of conflicting genres but trust us, we found a way to make it work. If you’re wondering what that sounds like, I urge you take listen. We created the music to express thoughts and ideas that we couldn’t normally define in simple prose or conversation’.

Rocky Collado – Drums, Lead Vocals

“Writing and producing music has become my favorite thing to do as of late. I hear songs in my head during dull stretches of time that city life imposes upon me daily; boring meetings, plane rides, long drives or waiting in line at the bank to name a few. I’ve gotten into the habit of recording “interesting” phrases or melodies whenever they come to mind so I can later revisit my little collection of ideas and see what I can come up with. It’s the first step in manifesting something from the imagination into the real world. Once it’s recorded, me and my bandmates can then shape and mold it to however we please.”

Lakan Hila – Lead Guitar, Keyboards

“Lakan is the virtuoso of the group. He can play almost anything and has a more advanced understanding of musical theory. Among all of us he’s done the most soundtripping and has the biggest range of musical influences. He’s got a vast collection of sound bytes in his head somewhere and it comes in mighty handy for when we’re brainstorming what to do with rough concepts. Most of what you hear in our music, he’s responsible for.”

Dino Pascual – Rhythm Guitar

“Dino is the people person for sure. He’s an approachable and accomodating kind of guy. You’ll find him doing all the talking for us because he has the knack for understanding both sides of any arguement. Whether it’s spiels on stage, interviews or tough negotiations there’s no one else in the band we’d prefer to represent us than him. We are in showbiz after all. A little bit of positivity and goodwill can go a very long way. This also lends well to his musical role in the band, as we often rely on the warmth and sincerity of his vocals to bring touchy ballads and love songs to life.”

Louie Poco – Bass Guitar

“The band just isn’t complete without the flair and funk that Louie brings to the table. He’s an infectious ball of energy wherever we play and its been one of the band’s defining characteristics ever since the beginning. People have called us “energetic” or “lively” all our careers. That’s mostly his doing. Putting him up on stage with the rest of us is the equivalent of spiking a softdrink.”
