The song, written by Chilitees member Dan Gil (who also happens to be TALA’s father and one of her producers), revolves around the pain of falling deeply in love with someone who’s already committed to someone else.
Though it may be deemed as a cover, TALA adds her unique, and distinct ‘2018 chill vibe’ to the track – making it a song of her own. Aside from this new arrangement, she also updates it by adding her very own verse in a section after the bridge.
Describing its topic as bittersweet, and its melody as haunting, the 19 year-old singer songwriter says “I hope this track is able to give justice to the original artists by taking an already great song and giving it a spin that my generation will appreciate and relate to.”
With this, the revamped version of the song will hopefully find new life in this generation’s playlist.
Labi is now available on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, and Amazon.
