5 Calum Scott facts that will get you excited for his ‘Only Human’ concert

Back in 2015, a 26-year old Calum Scott wowed judges Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Amanda Holden, and Alesha Dixon in Britain’s Got Talent. Little did Scott know that his appearance on the reality show would jumpstart his career in music.

Since joining Britain’s Got Talent, Scott has gone on to make a name for himself in the music industry. His single, “Dancing On My Own” from the album “Only Human,” has garnered more than 6.5 million sales worldwide and has reached Platinum in countries like Australia.

This year, Scott continues his journey in music with the ‘Only Human’ tour in Asia. And on October 30, 2018, Tuesday, he will perform in the New Frontier Theater as a part of the tour’s Philippine leg.

During the press conference, one reporter asked Calum Scott if the inspiration from his songs came from “losing love” or “falling in love.” And Scott responds that the album is a result of everything he’s gone through in life and love – which includes both the good and the bad.

Calum Scott dedicates “You Are The Reason” for his grandmother

Scott was also asked who was the “You” in his song “You Are The Reason” and he replied, it’s his grandmother.  In fact, the grandmother scene in the music video was upon the request of Scott.

However, he informs people that everyone who’s ever had an “unrequited love” could really relate to the song. And that the “You” in the song can differ per person.

Calum Scott knows how hard it is to come out to your family. So when asked what advice does he have for individuals struggling to come out, Scott says, “surround yourselves with people who will be there for you. [And] take your time and love yourself.”

Calum Scott would love to try singing an OPM song

The singer admits he’s seen a lot of Filipino artists cover his songs on YouTube and that he would also like to try singing a song in the language.

“[The] Filipino people know how to sing. I would love to give it a shot – to sing a Filipino song,” Scott adds.

Calum Scott wishes he can continue creating meaningful connections with fans through music

Finally, Calum Scott wants to continue inspiring people through his music.

“My wish would be to just make people smile, to relate to people. I would love to feel connected to them in a way that they can’t connect to their friends and family – and be that voice of support or that shoulder to cry on or to make them get up and dance in the room. I want to have that relationship with my fans for the rest of my career because that is the most important thing for me,” Scott explains.
