Similar to how a synapse is the site of communication between two neurons where electric nerve signals can be transmitted, a hackathon is an avenue of collaboration and creation of innovative solutions.
Synapse 2018 is organized by the UP Medical Students for Social Responsibility – International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (MSSR-IPPNW or MSSR), together with HealthHacks PH. As an organization of medical students for the promotion of advocacies that address the different facets of health, the event is being held with the aim to bring modern healthcare solutions to the communities.
A hackathon allows its participants to learn from guest speakers, workshops, and mentoring activities to help them build on their own ideas and develop a prototype of an innovative solution for current problems.
Open to all Senior High School and University students, each member of a group gets to take on a specific role, explained here: https://tinyurl.com/Synapse2018Roles.
