Held in the heart of Angeles City, Global Village 2018: Onto Greater Ends hosted more than a hundred students and graduates alike. Last August 29 the event hosted by AIESEC, the world’s largest youth-led organization, the event showcased the cultures of the countries Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
During the program proper, the foreign exchange participants performed traditional presentations.
Quốc Bảo Nguyễn, a Vietnamese exchange participant volunteering to teach Kapampangan kids, delivered a soulful Vietnamese song for the delegates.
Meanwhile, Yuka Yamazaki and Aoi Sakumoto, who are also volunteers for Project Bale, performed Sōran Bushi, a traditional Japanese dance portraying fishing gestures.
The Filipino volunteer exchange participants also shared their experiences to the crowd. “My experience was not perfect, it was not as smooth as I thought it would be, those imperfections made my experience worthwhile. It made me realize more about myselfand my capabilities. In the end, I can finally look in the mirror and say to myself, “I’m so proud of you.”
After the program proper, the delegates were invited to visit the booths showcasing Japanese, Thai, South Korean and Vietnamese culture.
Global Village 2018‘s aim was to promote cultural sensitivity and appreciation to its delegates. Through the event, AIESEC was also able to promote amazing leadership opportunities to its youth participants–internship and volunteer exchange programs, and AIESEC membership.
