To all booklovers, one of the worst things that can happen to us is losing even just one from our beloved collection. This girl unfortunately lost most of all her books due to these bad boys…
TERMITES.
Being wood-eaters, termites can do a lot of damage to unprotected structures, especially those made of wood. Because they can conceal themselves, their infestation usually goes undetected until the wooden areas they burrow in are already severely damaged.
Dorcas Kyla Aguayo posted about how around 80 of her books which she collected over the years were lost. “I was away for most of May, and di ko na notice na inanay na pala ang bookshelf ko (I didn’t notice that my books were being infested by termites).”
As a bookworm, Aguayo shared how books were her companion. “Whenever I’m stressed or tired from reality, I used to escape in between the pages of a book. The next thing I know, the sun has already set (and sometimes, rose again).”
Note: Trigger Warning!
“My most prized possession. My very best friends. Never rebelled as a teenager because I was busy reading and collecting books. They kind of saved me from the harsh reality.”
Rest in peace, books.
And as Aguayo said, “Take care of your books, guys.” InqPOP!/Bea Constantino
