There’s just something about Boyce Avenue that Filipinos can’t get enough of―and on their 7th tour to the Philippines, it just gets better. Catch Boyce Avenue this weekend as they perform with another main act: one of today’s favourites, Moira Dela Torre.
During the press conference held Thursday afternoon, Boyce Avenue members Alejandro, Fabian, and Daniel Manzano opened the event by sharing that they are very excited to perform this time with a local artist.
The Manzano brothers said that fans should look forward to the shows scheduled this weekend because they have prepared new performances, and a couple even to be sung with Moira.
Moira, dubbed as the “movie soundtrack queen of this generation,” revealed that she has been a long-time fan of the group, adding that Boyce Avenue was among her top-viewed Youtube channels.
“I’m very excited and I’m very nervous at the moment,” she said. “They have inspired me a lot as an artist, as a Youtuber, as a singer ―to be consistent with my music and to make it my own. So [to] have a concert with them is surreal and I’m very, very excited for tomorrow.”
The Youtube stars, when asked what they think of Moira’s music, replied that they are definite that the uprising star can make it big globally.
Moira then replied that she has been preparing to release new songs internationally.
“Right at the moment, I think just yesterday, we actually talked about possibly going global with my music. I’m trying to be as versatile as I can… just so I can challenge myself more as an artist and try to write not just hugot songs that are just acoustic,” she said.
“We plan in going global in the U.S. just because in the past years that I’ve been going back and forth to see my family, I’ve done live shows ―small intimate shows with my cousin, and I feel like we’ve already created an atmosphere there where we could be free to just explore different types of genres.”
The brothers, famous for their acoustic covers of hit songs, shared that one reason why they are able to continue going on tours is because of their strong bond.
“[We] just get along,” Daniel started. “We grew up in a Hispanic culture, it’s very close knit, family was the most important thing. We never did anything separately, all our vacations we were always together….so we basically became best friends.”
He continued, saying that everything just fell into place when they began making music.
“That’s even why I think we did music, ’cause Alejandro just started singing and got really passionate about it, and Fabian and I were like [we’re] a team, we’re gonna do this too.”
They added that one of the reasons why they keep coming back to the Philippines is because they always look back at the time they first came to the country and witnessed their Filipino fans singing along during the mall show.
When asked of their plans while in the Philippines, the brothers shared that they played basketball earlier that morning, and are looking forward to do more in the next few days.
“There’s a lot of things we’d like to do… like boxing, you guys have a very strong boxing culture here, and basketball. We’d love to go to a [good] restaurant at some point, maybe some shopping, so there’s a lot of stuff that we’d love to do here,” Fabian said.
