Kid recreates facial expressions from Calvin and Hobbes to surprise his dad

Five-year-old Ty recreated the different facial expressions of Calvin, the protagonist in Bill Watterson’s syndicated comic strip, Calvin and Hobbes, as a surprise gift for his dad, Austin—who happens to be a big fan of the comics.

In one of his comic strips, Watterson featured a few of Calvin’s moronic expressions—photos taken to spite his parents.

With the help of his mom, Ty mimicked Calvin’s expressions as she captures it. They curated it and gave it to Austin along with a complete set of Calvin and Hobbes comics as as their surprise birthday gift. He was very thrilled about the gift that he shared the photo via Reddit and earned 45K of points. He used this to reassure his son who thinks that no one found him funny, by saying that “at least 40 thousand people do”.
