Need something to listen to while working or during your commute but you’re tired of your go-to playlist? If so, these podcasts might help make your day more bearable. In a medium dominated by men, these women-led podcasts help to create a space to talk about the affairs of a modern woman—from beauty and lifestyle to career and relationships. Each of these shows differ in length, tone, and approach and delves into a plethora of topics to keep you hooked so that the hours just fly by.
Invisibilia (Latin for “invisible things”) is produced and hosted by award-winning journalists Alix Spiegel and Hanna Rosin for the National Public Radio (NPR). Spiegel and Rosin combine science along with awe-inspiring human stories to weave a narrative that “explores the intangible forces that shape human behavior—things like ideas, beliefs, assumptions, and emotions.”

Stuff Mom Never Told You, one of many podcasts by HowStuffWorks, is a show which tackles the “business of being a woman and all the Stuff Mom Never Told You.” It is currently hosted by Bridget Todd and Anney Reese who discuss sex and gender, womanhood, and all the challenges women have faced and still face today in a semi-serious but engaging way through their research and personal experience.

Modern Love: The Podcast, hosted by Meghna Chakrabarti, is produced by WBUR and is based on The New York Times’ weekly column of the same name. The podcast features dramatic readings “exploring the joys and tribulations of love” performed by celebrities including Uma Thurman, Kate Winslet, Jake Gyllenhaal and other personalities, notes from the Modern Love column editor Daniel Jones, and updates from the original essayists.
