Between academics and extracurricular activities, there are a lot of things to teach your kids. But when it comes down to the all important life lesson of “teaching them how to fish” or “teaching them how to earn their own money” do you have this covered?
Money may not be the most important thing in life, but when it comes down the three basic needs of food, clothing, and shelter, we need money to acquire all three – so why not start teaching kids how to thrive and enjoy business at an early age?
Thankfully, Kiddo-preneur (www.kiddo-preneur.com) gives kids between the ages of 5-17 exactly that opportunity, and it’s golden!
Founded in 2011, Kiddo-preneur gives children the avenue to explore the wonderful and exciting world of entrepreneurship. Via their bi-annual events, the kids sign up, start a business, create or source their own products, and then make their own money come the actual selling event.
Akin to the “lemonade stand” businesses of kids in the US, Kiddo-preneur gives Filipino kids the chance to set up shop and sell their wares.
Some kids make slime to sell, others sell baked goods, other kids sell crafts, the ideas and concepts are limitless. What’s key however, is that the kids find something they enjoy and then find a creative way to make it profitable. Through this exercise, the kids get to learn about the value of hard work, the importance of business and entrepreneurship , and they learn about how much fun it can be to earn your own money – a valuable lesson indeed at any age!
For those interested, Kiddo-preneur will have it’s first event for the year on June 2nd at the Greenbelt 5 Mall.
