Fans revisit iconic scenes from ‘Meteor Garden’ as its Chinese remake releases teaser

Back in the early 2000s, Taiwanese series Meteor Garden became a global hit and was one of the pioneers of the “idol genre” in Asian television. We were introduced to a boy group called “F4” composed of Dao Ming Si, Hua Ze Lei, Xi Men, and Mei Zuo, along with the fearless heroine Shan Cai.

If you’re one of those who got hooked on Meteor Garden, you would know what getting a “red card” in your locker means and how “pineapple hair” became so popular no matter how awful it actually looks. Like Shan Cai, you also probably tried shouting “Dao Ming Si…” (your version would include gibberish Mandarin, of course), chased a bus while holding a bag of oranges, or got yourself the same “meteor necklace” that Dao Ming Si gave Shan Cai.

Recently, Twitter user c-drama tweets shared a montage of some of the iconic scenes in Meteor Garden — 17 years after the Taiwanese series debuted onscreen.

Fans went down the memory lane as they recall these scenes and some even said that they want to rewatch the drama all over again.

Meteor Garden had a few remakes over the years: “Hana Yori Dango” from Japan and “Boys Over Flowers” from Korea. The series is set for another reboot in China and will have a 48-episode run with a whopping budget of NT$720 million (almost $24 million). As the series takes a modern spin with the Chinese remake, viewers will be introduced to the modern-day cast namely: Dylan Wang as Dao Ming Si, Darren Chen as Hua Ze Lei, Connor Leong as Mei Zuo, Caesar Wu as Xi Men, and Shen Yue as Dong Shan Cai.

The highly anticipated Chinese remake recently released its first teaser and the fans couldn’t wait to relive the story of F4 and Shan Cai once again.

Here’s a sneak peek into the show’s behind the scenes:

The cast also previously performed the original OST of Meteor Garden. (Yes, you know you’re singing it, too!)

We can’t wait to see this remake of Meteor Garden, but for now, we just wanna binge-watch the original Taiwanese version all over again!
