It has been almost a month since the all new American Idol went on the ultimate journey to discover the next singing sensation. Judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan narrowed down the group of 50 talented singers to 24 hopefuls. What were their winning renditions that paved way for their spots? Here’s a run-through:
The 16-year old Layla Spring boldly took on the Ike and Tina Turner classic “Proud Mary”; Michael Woodward picked “You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morissette and secured his spot; Gabby Barrett sang Carrie Underwood’s “Church Bells”; the next J Lo or Camila Cabello on American Idol is Michelle Sussette who makes the cut along with Dominique, Trevor McBane, Maddie Pope, and Ron Bultongez; Catie Turner charmed the judges and got sent through; joining Jurnee in the Top 24 are Shannon O’Hara, Kay Kay, Amelia Harris, and Brandon Diaz; Ada Vox is advancing along Johnny Brenns despite pitch problems performing “Lay Me Down” by Sam Smith, Jersey girl Mara Justine, Caleb Hutchinson, Laine Hardy, rocker Cade Foener made it to ‘heaven’ as well as opera singer Effie Passero, and finally rounding out the Top 24 was Marcio Donaldson, and Dennis Lorenzo.
